21 Amazing Luberon Wineries for Tasting and Sightseeing (with map)
Visiting Luberon wineries isn’t just about wine tasting. Here’s an idea: Blend wine adventures with sightseeing.
Savor that glass of wine in a vineyard, under a tree, with the singing cicadas, on château grounds, with smiling staff…well, you get the idea.
This hit-two-birds-with-one-stone approach is the best use of your time. Plus, if you have non-wine drinkers in the group, they can still enjoy the place.
As a Luberon local, wine lover, and avid winefest goer, I’ve curated a list of 21 vineyards and wineries that serve up good wines and experiences.
But I want to be clear—choosing from hundreds of Luberon wineries is no walk in the vineyard. It is 100% subjective, but my list is a great place to start in your own search.
Every establishment earned its spot through my personal experiences—whether I visited the place, savored their wine, had a chat with the vintners, or all three combined.
I’ve handpicked the wineries and divided them into five categories:
- Small family wineries
- Historic vineyards
- Château vineyards
- Modern wineries
- Caves and cellars
Feel free to jump to specific parts using the table of contents.

😍 First time in the Luberon? Aside from wine tasting, here are other Luberon experiences that could make this one of your all-time favorite trips. Ever.
Small Family Wineries in the Luberon
Visiting independent or small family wineries is often an intimate experience. When you go for a Luberon wine tasting, don’t be surprised if the owners welcome you.
I’m always thrilled to meet vignerons (French for winemakers). One of the things I love? Hearing firsthand about their vineyard’s history, know-how, and stories, often passed down through generations.
Château Constantin
AOP Luberon, IGP Méditerranée, Vin de France
📍D139 Route du Jas de Puyvert, 84160 Lourmarin
Château Constantin is a 20-hectare family estate at the edge of Lourmarin. The land is old with traces of a Roman vineyard and water system, but the winery is generally new.
In 2016, the Bagnis family from Marseille traded their fruit-producing roots for a new adventure in the Luberon. They have since rehabilitated the vineyard and property, with 2020 as their first organically labeled harvest.
Today they produce organic wines, including the terracota-aged Amphore range and L’Instant Nature natural wines.

I met the Bagnis at the Wine & Dine festival in Lourmarin. I remember reading their brochure and when I looked up, I saw a smiling lady whose face matches one of the photos in the flyer.
“C’est vous! (It’s you!)” I blurted out. The lady turned out to be Camille, one of the daughters. Along with her parents and sister, Camille helps run the family business.
They speak English. So if you drop by Château Constantin for wine tasting, you don’t need to worry about being lost in translation.

“My husband and I visited and got welcomed by the owner and his daughter. They were so kind and eager to share their work with us!
Did I mention how stunningly flavorful their wines are? If we weren’t limited by airplane wine restrictions we would’ve bought more than the 4 kinds we got.” – Anna T.

Château Fontvert
AOP Luberon
📍15 Chem. de Pierrouret, 84160 Lourmarin
Established in 1598, Château Fontvert has a rich history tied to the Huguenots—a group of French Protestants in the 16th-17th century who were persecuted by the French Catholic church.
For 300+ years, a single Huguenot family owned the property. This connection lends the vineyard a special place in Luberon’s history.
By the 1950s, the Monod family took the reins, with the current generation (three grandsons), now managing the vineyard.
Château Fontvert, an organic and biodynamic winery, is beautifully set at the foot of the Luberon mountains. It’s a short 15-minute stroll from the center of Lourmarin, one of the most popular villages in the Luberon.
The vineyard has a love story.
Years ago, American photographer Corinne sought to document the grape harvest (usually in September in Luberon). She approached Château Fontvert and met Fabrice, one of the owners. The rest, as they say, is history.
I first met Corinne and Fabrice at a friend’s dinner, and they’re lovely people. In fact, their wine was the first Luberon wine I’ve tried.
Keep an eye out: Château Fontvert is introducing the Counoise grape, prominent in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with a new rosé set to debut in summer 2026.

A Few Practical Notes on Visiting Luberon Wineries
Updates: While I strive to provide the latest details, remember that timings and prices can shift. Always double-check with the winery.
Wine Tastings: Most wineries won’t charge for a tasting (usually up to 3 kinds of wine). You’re not obligated to buy afterward, though it’s gracious to do so—particularly if the staff have devoted time to you.
That said, don’t be surprised if there’s a tasting fee. This is more common when you’re guided by a wine expert or sommelier. Or if you’re sampling at a shop that offers many brands (after all, popping open those bottles isn’t free for them).
Languages: While many wineries might have someone who can converse in English (or another language), deeper wine discussions might be a challenge.
Considering a paid wine tour? Secure your spot in advance and specify if you’d like an English-speaking guide to ensure a smooth experience.
Domaine des Jardinettes
AOP Luberon, IGP Méditerranée
📍635 Rte de Pertuis, 84530 Villelaure
Who would’ve thought that a random stranger’s recommendation would lead me to one of my favorite Luberon wine brands? In fact, as of this writing, I have five bottles of this very brand at home.
Ever heard of Domaine des Jardinettes? Many haven’t. They don’t go big on advertising or show up at wine festivals. And yet, tucked away is their award-winning collection of affordable bio wines.
Visiting them is like stumbling upon a hidden gem.
A simple building amid vineyards opens up to a wine shop, which not only boasts their wines but also other Provençal treats. Think olive oil, honey, and lavender-based beauty products.

Wine tasting is free. But they don’t offer vineyard tours or educational sessions. I included them on this list because it’s a good place to buy souvenirs.
Oh, and look for the adorable hedgehog logo when you grab a bottle—it’s as delightful as the wine itself.

Domaine des Marchands
AOP Luberon, IGP Méditerranée
📍991 RD9 Domaine des Marchands, 84240 Ansouis
Located in Ansouis, one of France’s most picturesque villages, Domaine des Marchands is a family affair.
This gem in southern Luberon has been the Pichot family’s pride and joy for 20+ years. The backstory?
Stéphane, hailing from Auvergne, met Laurence (a Parisienne) in the French capital. With a common love for agriculture, the couple traded the City of Lights for the South of France.
Their top cuvées are named after their kids: Louis, Agathe, and César. And the vineyard’s coat of arms? An homage to Laurence’s ancestor, Jean-Baptiste Marchand, a musician knighted by none other than Louis XIV.
I had the delightful opportunity to meet the owners at a recent Luberon wine festival. Echoing their website’s lighthearted note “Sans chichi, ni blabla” (no fuss, no fluff), they were as friendly in person.
A gentle reminder: if you’re planning a visit, especially outside summer, it’s wise to give them a ring. They’ll personally be there, ensuring you’re greeted with familiar warmth.

Mas Lauris
AOP Luberon
📍Qua les Gres, 84360 Lauris, France
I first stumbled upon Mas Lauris while walking my dog. Curious, I picked up a bottle of their L’Inopiné rosé (delicious!).
The winery, as I later discovered, is a dream come true for Didier and Margeaux Théophile. After falling in love with the property, they transformed the old farmhouse into a thriving winery.
With the help of experts, they rejuvenated the land by replacing the old vines, ultimately receiving organic certification for the soil.
You can visit Mas Lauris whole year-round. But book an appointment, especially in the summer. Their small team is so hands-on that they work both in the storefront and the vineyard.
Accessibility is a plus: The cellar is on the same floor as the shop, making it friendly for those with reduced mobility. And for pet lovers? Dogs are welcome too, but not in the cellar (for obvious reasons).

Château de Mille
AOP Luberon
📍Route de Bonnieux, 84400 Apt
Meet Château de Mille, the Luberon’s oldest wine estate.
The first mention of the château was in the Avignon archives in 1238. It served as a summer home for popes such as Clement VI, whose portrait still adorns the cellar.
The estate boasts unique features—from troglodyte dwellings and underground vaulted cellar to a rare pond and 15th century parchment.
Fast forward to 2018. French-American couple Constance and Lawrence Slaughter took over with a strong focus on organic viticulture.
Swing by for wine tastings, history tours (free and paid), and a peek into their Wine & History museum.
And if you’re taken by the estate’s charm, consider a stay on the grounds. If you book at least four nights, you’ll get complimentary wine tasting and guided tour.

Château Saint-Pierre de Mejans
AOC Luberon
📍2 VC Jas de Puyvert, 84160 Puyvert
History fans will love this 12th-century wine estate. Can you imagine Benedictine monks were already making wine here in the 1100s?
A former priory and silkworm factory, Château Saint-Pierre de Mejans sits on 12 hectares of vineyards, olive groves, and lavender fields.
They offer wine tasting with guided tours that take you to the castle, gardens, and even a picnic by the pool. Depending on which package you choose, a tour costs 15-65€ per person.
♣️ Insider tip: Before you leave, look for the ancient silk mulberry tree near the estate’s entrance, right across the road.
This rare tree, one of Luberon’s last and possibly one of France’s oldest, stands as a nod to the region’s silk-producing past. It enjoys protected status in Puyvert.

“What a magical, art filled space and place in time. It is a preservation and restoration of an ancient priory, an amazing bed and breakfast style hotel and some of the most elegant wine I have tasted from very old vines. Domaine de Mayol
AOP Luberon, IGP Vaucluse, IGP Méditerranée, AOP Ventoux
📍1648 Rte de Bonnieux D3, 84400 Apt
Domaine de Mayol has remained in the same family’s hands for many generations.
The estate’s name honors Dom Mayeul, the 4th abbot of the Abbey of Cluny in Burgundy—a significant figure in what was once the medieval west’s largest monastic order.
Like most wineries in the Luberon, Domaine de Mayol is big on organic cultivation. You can explore wines spanning at least four appellations, including the acclaimed AOP Luberon and AOP Ventoux.
Today, Mireille and Robert Viguier, indirect descendants of Dom Mayeul, have entrusted the 40-hectare estate to their son, Bernard.
😍 Guest Praise
“We discovered Mayol years ago in Paris and have been in love ever since. It is our “house” wine and guests are always asking how we discovered it and then become lovers of Mayol as well.
Their Viognier is the best I have had in this range, their reds are surprisingly interesting and their Rosé is a must. On top, Bernard is an incredible person and now someone we call a friend! If in the area, a visit is recommended.” – Stephanie W.

Chateau Vineyards in the Luberon
“I went to a wine tasting in a château in the South of France” is perhaps a dream for many. But for you, it’s totally doable and won’t break the bank.
Below are my favorite wine tasting venues on château grounds. But first, a quick note…
Château Wine Definition in France
Do you think “château” only means castles with moats? Or a palace where kings and queens lived?
In France, château also means a wine estate, or “château domaine viticole.” Protected by French and EU laws, this title comes with criteria:
1) The wine must have a protected designation of origin
2) Grapes must only be harvested from the estate’s plots
3) Winemaking must happen on-site
So, while you might not spot a Palais de Versailles lookalike on a Luberon wine tour, you’re in for authentically-crafted wines. And hey, the château wine estates on my list are stunning!
P.S. As you try different Luberon wines, look out for other wine markers like clos, domaine, mas, and abbayes.
Château de Sannes
AOP Luberon, IGP Méditerranée
📍1580 D37, 84240 Sannes

Imagine a long, regal driveway, lake graced by swans, French garden maze, vineyards, fountains, pools (one’s a Reddit sensation!), and a windmill against a sunset backdrop.
Whew! That’s a taste of what Château de Sannes has to offer.
It all started in 1603 when Jean de Thibaud de Tisati (advisor to the king) built a simple lodge. Their 1603 wine range pays homage to these origins
Château de Sannes buzzes with events the entire year, from wine tastings to yoga sessions, art exhibits, and musical concerts. It’s also a favorite venue for weddings and conferences.
In August 2023, they hosted the first ever Festival Vins & Passions en Luberon, a fusion of wine, gastronomy, and history. Of course, I was there for some learning and fun.

Château La Canorgue
AOP Luberon
📍Route du Pont Julien – D149, 84480 Bonnieux
You might know this place from the 2006 film A Good Year, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Russell Crowe and Marion Cotillard.
But if that’s your only reason to visit, stop.
Château La Canorgue is a small family wine estate (five generations and counting). It is said to be the Luberon’s pioneer in organic winemaking.
So imagine the owner’s dismay when movie fans flocked to the estate for photos. And not give a damn about the wines.
There are some online reviews about a seemingly “arrogant, old woman.” The estate’s website itself echoes their frustrations:
“We are tired of the little respectful attitude of some visitors. We are a real winery and the domain is neither a public garden nor an amusement park. No visits of the film location.“
My advice? Forget about the film. Let the award-winning wines speak for themselves.
♣️ Insider tip: Still got a movie itch to scratch?
You can still taste (or buy) Coin Perdu, the wine featured in A Good Year. It’s a red wine with “notes of cooked black fruit, spices and pralines. The tannins are supple and silky.”
Don’t look ecstatic when you ask for it, or else the owner might get annoyed. After all, respecting the estate’s wishes ensures everyone enjoys their visit.

Château La Sable
AOP Luberon, IGP Méditerranée
📍2944A Route de Lourmarin, 84160 Cucuron
Château La Sable is a family wine estate and B&B located between Cucuron and Lourmarin.
A family from Focalquier owned the property for decades, making it one of the oldest private cellars in the Luberon.
This 14-hectare land boasts natural beauty: from ancient oaks and centennial plane trees to olive groves and sandy soil (“sable” means sand in French).
Add the 18th-century bastide into the mix, and the scene is perfect. If you fancy an overnight, you can book the country house to enjoy views of the vineyards and Luberon mountains.
In 2017, Jean-Marc and Virginie Mercier took the helm. By 2022, the vineyard received its organic certification. Wine enthusiasts can sample from their five cuvées: two rosés, two whites, and a red.
They’re open daily except Sunday. They ask that you call before swinging by. It’s to make sure a family member is there to welcome you.

Château La Verrerie
AOP Luberon, IGP Vaucluse
📍1810 Rte du Luberon, 84360 Puget
If there’s an organic wine brand that’s been recommended to us by different people, it’s Château La Verrerie. And it’s easy to understand why.

Owned by the Descours family, this massive 150-hectare (or 371-acre) estate boasts 56 hectares of vines and 7.5 hectares of olive trees. Their Grand Deffand red was hailed as one of the best Syrahs in the world.
Our 83-year-old French friend (and fan of the brand) shared with us, “They were one of the first vineyards that made premium Luberon wine.”
I remember when I saw La Verrerie’s gates and handsome bottles for the first time. They looked elegant. But don’t worry, visiting the estate is affordable, and the people are warm.
Go for a free discovery tasting. Or opt for guided tours such as deep dives into history and winemaking, or a relaxing picnic (by reservation only).

Château Val Joanis
AOP Luberon, IGP Méditerranée, Vin de France
📍2404 Route de Villelaure, 84120 Pertuis

Château Val Joanis is a popular wedding venue. Their lucky charm? The garden.
The French Ministry of Culture classified it as one of the “Remarkable Gardens of France” (Jardins remarquables de France).
Created in 1978, it has three terraces: fruit, vegetable, and lavender garden on the first; roses, irises, and other flowers on the second; fruit trees on the third.
Recently, I went there with my husband and friends for the popular “Apéros de Val Jo” held every week in July and August. From 6:30-11:30pm, we enjoyed live music, food trucks, ice cream, and wine bar.
To our surprise, the Mexican food truck served up good guacamole and wraps. Even our Mexican friend approved. It’s a chill, fun event for family and friends. We even brought our little dogs.

La Cavale
AOP Luberon
📍3017 Rte de Lourmarin, 84160 Cucuron
A modern architectural marvel, La Cavale is as much a feast for the eyes as its wines are for the palate.
I can’t help but have high expectations for La Cavale.
After all, it was founded by Paul Dubrule, French entrepreneur and former senator. He is France’s pioneer of wine tourism.
Good thing is, La Cavale is a cool place. You can visit their wine shop and enjoy tastings for free.
Additionally, they offer guided tours of the cellar and host workshops on interesting topics, including ampelography (study of wine and vine), wine with chocolate or cheese, and truffle sessions.
Just remember, reservations are a must. Some of the workshops are seasonal, so please check with them first.
♣️ Insider tip: From the end of June through September, their terrace transforms into a lively venue featuring live music, food trucks, and stunning views of the Luberon landscape.
Consider timing your wine tasting with their apéro nights, which typically happen on Thursdays. Make sure to book in advance.

Translated from French: “Very nice place with a modern, refined architect and beautiful spaces with a magnificent terrace overlooking the vineyards.
We were able to appreciate the store with beautiful products, books, gift ideas and spirits.
And above all, we were able to taste the organic wine production of the estate. In the company of a very friendly sommelier, we were able to taste and better understand the different wines of the grape varieties and the various vinification processes. Great time.” – Raphael B.

Mas des Infirmières
AOP Luberon
📍1575 Rte du Four Neuf, 84580 Oppède
Film fans, rejoice! Did you know that British filmmaker Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Gladiator, A Good Year) owns a winery?
Since 1992, Scott and his family have been breathing life into the 11-hectare Mas des Infirmieres, an organic vineyard that boasts “Bee Friendly” and “Haute Valeur Environnementale” (HVE) certifications.
“I love to come here to paint, to read and write but above all, be a reverent custodian of this beautiful corner of Provence,” says Scott.
In fact, at one of the winefests I attended, I learned that it was the film director himself who drew the cute illustrations on the wine bottles.

Drop by for a free wine tasting, no appointment required. Mas des Infirmieres is a winery near Gordes, Oppède-les-Vieux, and Bonnieux—so it can be a nice stopover during your village-hopping.
If you want a deeper look into Scott’s world of cinema, book a Classic or VIP tour, which will allow you to see costumes and accessories from his popular films.
🍷Fun fact: Ever wondered about the name Mas des Infermières? It literally means “Farmhouse of the Nurses.”
This place used to be a healing sanctuary, likely run by Italian nuns. And by 1831, it was listed as the property of Napoleon’s surgeon general.

Caves and Cellars in the Luberon
What do wine festivals, caves, and cellars have in common? Simple! All three allow you to taste and compare wines from different brands (or regions).
You can’t enjoy a curated selection of wines in places that only sell their own brand.
The ones I listed below are very near to places of interest, so you can still couple wine tasting with sightseeing.
Cave de Bonnieux
📍4290 route de la Gare, 84480 Bonnieux
Created in 1920, Cave de Bonnieux was the first wine cooperative in the Luberon. They carry both AOP Luberon and AOP Ventoux wines.
A mere five-minute walk away, visit Fondation de Blanchère, a museum of contemporary African art. It’s the only one of its kind in the Luberon.

📍406 Avenue de Laçon, Apt
Cave de Sylla started in 1925. Today, they have around 110 dedicated winegrowers showcasing AOP Luberon and Ventoux wines.
Aside from wine tastings, they offer daily lunch menus and wine & cheese platters in July and August.
♣️ Insider tip: Why not visit the Saturday market in Apt and go for wine tasting after? In case you didn’t know, Apt market is one of the biggest (and oldest) in Provence. It has been around since the 12th century.

How to Visit These Luberon Wineries
Do It Yourself (DIY)
This gives you the freedom to choose wineries, manage your time, and discover off-the-beaten-path vineyards.
Ensure you check winery opening hours and appoint a designated driver if you intend to indulge. Compare car rental options here.
Group Wine Tours
Visiting the Luberon without a car? Consider group wine tours.
While they offer less flexibility in winery choices, they promise a hassle-free experience – no need to fret about driving. Here are a few I suggest:
Wine tour from Aix-en-Provence: Luberon and vineyards tour with wine tasting
Day trip from Marseille: Full-day wine tour to Luberon
Private Wine Tour Guide
Hire a private tour guide for a tailored Luberon wineries experience, or opt for their suggested itinerary.
This private tour visits the wineries of Château La Verrerie, Château La Canorgue, with side trips to an olive oil producer and Château de Lourmarin. Check price and available dates here.
